Leadership Study Launched by SMI during October '06: SMI Leadership practice leaders, Rich Petro and Arthur Petty recently launched an extensive study of the leadership development experiences and practices of professionals ranging from retired CEOs to first-time leaders. The study focuses on four areas of an individual's leadership experience, including aspirations, personal leadership development, leadership practices and personal observations on leading. Updates, findings and insights gleaned from the study will be published in early '07. Book Project Announced, June '06: Arthur Petty and Rich Petro announced their agreement to collaborate for Practical Lessons in Leadership--A Guidebook for Experienced and Aspiring Leaders. According to the authors, the book is intended to fill a critical gap in the body of leadership literature, offering actionable guidance, advice and best-practices approaches for choosing a career in leadership, getting started as a new leader, creating a culture of operational excellence and innovation, and many other topics critical to leaders of all experience levels. The authors expect to complete the manuscript by December and publish the work during '07. |
